GO TO list of Activities for the Holiday Season

adventureswithalys1

It truly is the most wonderful time of the year. I get so excited for season, but sometimes all the planning can be draining. You have to figure out where you are going for all the parties, finding all the perfect Christmas gifts, making cookies and sweet treats, and so much more! The last thing that you want to worry about is having to find good activities for your students. That is why I came up with a list for you! Let's dive in to some options!

  1. This was one of my favorite activities to do with my class. It does not have to be done around the Holidays, but it can be! Marshmallow structures! This activity will cost a little out of pocket, but it is so fun! I gave each student some marshmallows and toothpicks and let them loose! (Make sure you evenly distribute the resources.) Prior to them building we talked about the goal of the structures. They were able to make whatever they wanted but I was going to hand out 3 certificates: tallest structures, most creative, and sturdiest. They used these ideas and their creativity to make some incredible structures.

  2. Math Collaborative Christmas Trees. These are 30 piece collaborative math activities! Students answer some questions and then color their piece of the tree. This is a perfect option for the start of the season, because you can enjoy it all of December! I have these available for Kindergarten-4th Grade AND I have an editable version!

  1. Make Christmas Cards! This can be a really fun activity for the students. You do not have to make them for people you know, they can be for anyone! Make cards for nursing homes or hospitals in your area. You can write cards to military members who are away from their family for the season. There are so many people who would love a little extra Christmas cheer this time of year.

Make a Collaborative Coloring Bulletin Board Display. These are 30 piece

displays that you whole class completes together. The coloring code review page is editable, so you can put in your own questions and answers (don't worry I explain it to you!) Students answer the review questions and discover the coloring code! They can then use the coloring code to color in one of the pieces of the display. Once all the pieces are colored, students can display the whole picture! If you like the idea of this but want to do a different display, I have options! I have a Christmas Tree, Gingerbread House, a Nativity Scene, and so many more!

  1. Countdown to break! You can't stop it. The students will be excited and crazy no matter what, so just join in on the crazy! Make a chain countdown with your class. So easy and all you need is some paper. You can have your students take turns ripping off a piece of the chain. Just have fun with them.

  2. Personal Gingerbread Puzzles - Have each student make their own small gingerbread men! These puzzles are made up of 16 pieces. Student put the puzzle together by matching equations (on one piece) to the answers (on another piece). The whole gingerbread man comes together once all the pieces are matched! I have a multiplication, addition, subtraction, and addition and subtraction puzzles.

That's all folks! I hope that this list helps you gain some ideas and anctivities that you can do with your class this Holiday season!
