Your GO TO List of Fall Activities

adventureswithalys1

I remember my first year teaching I was constantly scouring the internet looking for a new fall activity to do with my class, so I wanted to make a list of my favorites for you! Mixed in are some resources that you can grab in my store and some FREE ideas! So let's dig in!

  1. Nature Mobiles - These were SO fun! It was a multiple day project that my students were looking forward to each day. We started by first building the base of the mobile. We talked about balance and how we needed two sticks that balanced each other out. Once each group had two sticks they built the base of their mobile. On day two, the students went through the woods looking for anything and eveything to put on their mobiles. They gathered leaves, acorns, pinecones, rocks, and more! The next couple days they attached their findings to their mobile, constantly checking to make sure everything was balanced. They came out AMAZING! ( I had pictures but somehow my phone lost them.) Great STEM activity and team project!

  2. Fall Collaborative Review Poster - This is a 30 piece collaborative bulletin board

display that you whole class completes together. The coloring code review page is editable, so you can put in your own questions and answers (don't worry I explain it to you!) Students answer the review questions and discover the coloring code! They can then use the coloring code to color in one of the pieces of the display. Once all the pieces are colored, students can display the whole picture! If you like the idea of this but want to do a different display, I have options! I have a halloween display, thanksgiving display, and so many more! Click the picture for the link to the fall display!

  3. Leaf Journals - When I did this activity with my class I also had them make their own books! We just took construction paper, folded them in half, and stapled! Once there books were made we went for a walk around the school finding different leaves. Once we collected the leaves each student wanted, we headed back to the classroom to start our journals. I had already prepared paints and paintbrushes for each student, so when we got back we were ready to go. Students brushed paint on their leaves and made stamps of each leaf in their journal. (If you do not want to use paint, you can just glue the leaes in.) I also wanted to incorporate descriptive writing in thisactivity, so each student described their leaf next to the stamp. With this one activity we were able to incorporate art, creative writing, and fun!

  4. Collaborative Math Pumpkin - Every teacher wants their class to work together as a team, so why not do it with a math project! This is a 30 piece pumpkin that students solve math problems on, color, and put together! I have a pumpkin for Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, and 4th Grade. This is a easy, no prep, math review activity, and bulletin board display that checks all the boxes. Grab yours now (you know they are cute)! Click the picture for the link!

  5. Personal Pumpkin Puzzles - Have each student make their own small pumpkin! These puzzles are made up of 17 pieces. Student put the puzzle together by matching equations (on one piece) to the answers (on another piece). The whole pumpkin comes together once all the pieces are matched! I have a multiplication, addition within 25, subtraction under 25, and division pumpkin puzzle.

  6. Scarecrow Decorating - This one is special to me! I actually did this activity when I was in 2nd Grade, so I have always loved it! My teacher separated us into different groups and then we picked clothes and made our scarecrows. You could also plan out the scarecrow with your whole class, and build it all together! When I did this with my school it was a whole school event, so we did it a little differently, but it is the same idea! If you have ever made a scarecrow then you know that it is not the easiest task, but we all know a challenge is good for us! So give your students a challenge. See if they can make is stand or sit. Have fun with the project!

I hope that you can use a couple of these ideas in your classroom! These are some of my favorites, so I hope they can beome some of your favorites as well! Happy fall to all the teachers out there!
